Jacksonville Beach

Firewood!?, pine straw?! I guess you need a hydrant nearby.

Sidewalk, MSD

The first words that popped into my head when I noticed this, were Fred Astaire. Don't know why. It's a nice combo of grace and stillness.

Jacksonville Beach

They don't do small nails as well.

Weese weeds, December 17th, 2106, Jacksonville Beach

Unlike Connecticut, we don't get much of a respite from weeds. This is a very tough grass that grows on roadsides. The seedheads are wonderful.

Christmas on Roscoe.

My neighbors across Roscoe.

Kitchen, Roscoe

I was home in the mid-morning last week. I am never home in the mid-morning. So I suddenly noticed the light pouring in from the south-facing window in our kitchen. Everything looked different  and exotic.

Wild cone, Atlantic Beach

This one caused some trouble.

My nominee for the flower that makes the most scent from the least real estate.

This is the flower of a tea olive. As you can see, it is tiny. When it is in bloom, you can smell it thirty feet away. It is a lovely heady scent. Sniffing one will make you believe in aroma therapy, you always feel better for it.

Electrical box, MSD

These boxes are ubiquitous here. The are covers for phone hookups. When they are installed, they are a neutral light green. Our groundwater here is full of sulfur and the sprinklers slowly turn them brown.

Knock out roses, garden.

They are in their last hurrah before two months of winter dormancy.
