November crop

One of the joys of living here is that we have two vegetable seasons. I planted these sweet cherry tomatoes in September, expecting a bumper crop about now. Then along came Hurricane Matthew and all of them were severely damaged. I put in new supports and retied them and hoped. They have all started a comeback! This spindly little plant is covered with flowers and these are the first ripe fruits. Sweet as candy.

 The ones on top are this year's plants, with ripe fruit about a week away. The bottom is one of my miracle plants that went dormant over the winter and came to life in March. They are covered with ripe fruit, but succumbing to disease. Never had this happen before.

Due to the El Nino, we have had a glorious Autumn and early Winter. The garden has just never completely shut down. The last two nights have been about 35f (1.7c) and that should stop new fruit from setting. I have never gone this deep into the year with edible summer veggies. My winter crop of cabbage, kohlrabi and collards is doing fine.
