This is what we came to climb. The town of Lioux sits at the base of these 100 meter (330') cliffs. The interesting thing about these rocks is that there is nothing near them. They stick up in the middle of a flat valley. They are made of limestone, which is usually veined with cracks, and unlike nearby hills. The formation extends 700 meters (2500') from end to end.
I do not know who decided to build a small village beneath these cliffs. The ground at the base is littered with rocks of various sizes that have fallen off of the formation. Yikes!
